Show City Street Oiling Project Progresses, Request Made for Bids on Seal Coatina The actual mixing of surfacing surfac-ing material for the city-wide street oiling project will get un-day un-day way sometime next week, according ac-cording to City Manager Thomas Thorsen. Machinery for the mixing mix-ing of the oil with the gravel that has been piled on the streets will arrive during the week, Mr. Thorsen states, and the work will be started. Spreading of the surfacing will begin as soon as the mixing mix-ing process gets under way. Gravel for the street surfacing has been windrowed on all but three or four short sections of street, and this portion of the project will be completed In the next few days, the manager reports. re-ports. With the project this far along the city has taken another step in the project, issuing a call for bids for seal coating of all streets already oiled or being oiled in the current program. Bids will be opened on July 29. The call asks only for bids for the labor on "the seal coating, with the city to furnish all materials. ma-terials. The bituminous seal is to be of RC-4 oil and a -lnch chip. Approximately 31,900 linear feet of seal coat 24 feet in width is included in the contract. con-tract. The call for bids appears in this issue of the Iron County Record. Also published this week is a notice of the city's intention to create a special improvement district, permitting special assessment as-sessment against the property effected to cover the cost of the seal coating. Protests or objections objec-tions to the proposal must be filed with the City Recorder on or before July 25. |
