Show Redmen Trim Rams, Lose to Panguitch In Practice Games The Cedar high school basketball basket-ball team defeated the Parowan Rams Friday night in the high school gym, in what has become the "big game" of the practice season since the Rams were transferred to the Millard district of Region six. The game was played in the gymnasium because workers are busy making improvements in the college fiedhouse, and it brought back memories of crowded crowd-ed gyms and insufficient seating. seat-ing. Although the crowd would not have looked large in the fieldhouse, it filled the gym to capacity. The Redmen won by a score of 48 to 37, staging a last quarter rally which gave them a convincing con-vincing victory. Play was close throughout the first three periods per-iods with the visiting team holding hold-ing the edge throughout the first half. The Rams took a 10 to 7 lead in the first quarter and held a one point, 19-18 margin at half time. Cedar tcok a small lead by the end of the third period and then pulled away in the final fin-al quarter. Saturday night the Redmen journeyed to Fanguitch for a return re-turn game with Coach Val Church's team, and dropped the game by a 55 to 51 margin. The Redmen won handily from Panguitch Pan-guitch in an earlier game played in the fieldhouse here, but couldn't cope with the shooting of Heywood, Proctor and Stoker Saturday night. The Redmen jumped into an early lead, but fell behind in the next two quarters. quar-ters. They rallied In the final period but could not pull the game out of the fire. Coach Ray Englestead's Red-men Red-men will play two more practice games this week end, meeting Beaver in Cedar City Friday night, and playing a return game with the Rams at Parowan Saturday. Sat-urday. Both games will be plenty tough, the Redmen having lost to Beaver last week, and the Rams promising plenty of competition on their own floor. The Redmen will open league playo n Friday, Jan. 9, entertaining entertain-ing the Dixie Flyers in the field-house field-house here. The Flyers are expected ex-pected to furnish some of the toughest campetition for the Bed-men Bed-men this year, although all the teams are apparently evenly matched for this season.
