Show - - - - Elks Deserve Credit Becausethe policy of the Elks lodges throughout the nation with regards to charitable activities of the organization, organi-zation, is to act and not seek praise for the act, many worthwhile projects undertaken by the B. P. O. E. go unnoticed. un-noticed. The Christmas season serves to emphasize the many fine projects undertaken by the local Elks lodge. Two teenagers dances, one on Christmas night and one on New Year's Eve, have been made possible through the generosity of the Elks. All children of the community 4 were invited Wednesday to attend a Christmas matinee and to enjoy a visit from Santa Claus and each received a sack full of candy and nuts. This is a wholesome afternoon after-noon of entertainment that means much to the children at Christmas time, which is prpvided by the Elks. A large number of families in unfortunate circumstances circum-stances will also know the joy of Christmas this yeaf, as every year, because of the generosity of the Elks. Every family in need is visited by lodge members each year, with a substantial gift of the things most needed by the family, fam-ily, clothing and food, and even toys to brighten the lives of the children of the family. All this is done without fanfare or any thought of praise or public credit, and it is just a continuation of the year-around program of the lodge, perhaps emphasized a bit because of Christmas customs. Any time, no matter what season of the year, that a worthy project designed to improve the well-being of the young people of the community com-munity the Elks can be depended on to support it generously, gener-ously, or even to "take over" the project completely. The organization does much good month after month, and its members are entitled to a lot of credit. |
