Show County Appointments Announced For "March of Dimes" The appointment of volunteer community leaders who have accepted ac-cepted chairmanships or committee commit-tee posts in the month long 1953 March of Dimes, which begins Jan. 2, was announced today by Forrest Hunter, Iron County campaign cam-paign director. Facing the consequences of the worst polio epidemic in the nation's na-tion's history this year's volunteer volun-teer force Is the largest ever enlisted, en-listed, the director asserted. "What happened to the nation na-tion last summer and fall," he said, "was more than a violent upsurge of polio incidence, It was a national calamity that wiped out all previous standards stand-ards of comparison." "For months and years to come thousands of men, women and children will require all the skills that money and modern knowledge can muster to help restore them to useful lives. Add to this the total of, those stricken strick-en in other years and it becomes apparent what an enormous financial fi-nancial burden Is now carried by the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis." Mr. Hunter announced the following-committee assignments for the campaign: Morris Roberts, Fred LaFrentz, Ray Knell and Wilson Lunt, advisory ad-visory committeemen; Walt Lowe publicity director; Eldon khmutz, campaign treasurer; La Veil Chamberlain, special ivents chairman; Morgan Slack, business gifts chairman; Mrs. Wayne Wood, Ladies organization organiza-tion chairman; Thomas J. Abpla-nalp, Abpla-nalp, schools and college chair-man; chair-man; Mrs. Mary Hasfurthers, Marching Mothers chairman; Max Dalley, Parowan director; Mrs. Lowe Barton, Paragonah director. di-rector. In making the announcement the director emphasized that all committees still are in need of volunteers, both men and women, wo-men, and that enlistments will continue even during the campaign cam-paign if necessary. This, he said, is due to the unparalleled need of carrying the March of Dimes appeal to every business, organization organ-ization and individual in th country. |
