Show Selective Service Board Names January Inductees Two Iron County men have been ordered to report for Induction Induc-tion into military service on Jan. 12, and a third one has been sent his Induction orders to be effective effect-ive upon the completion of his present school term. The two men ordered to report, according to E. B. Dalley, clerk of the Iron County Selective Service Ser-vice board are Gerald Cluff and Garth S. Hall, both of Cedar City. Hall recently returned from an L D S mission. The third man is Gordon Beth-ers, Beth-ers, also a returned missionary, who Is attending the University of Utah. As Is the practice under Selective Service, any student who is maintaining satisfactory grades is permitted to remain in school until the end of the term. . Three men have been ordered to report on Jan. 14 for pre-induc-tlon physical examinations. One of these, Nils Golden Bayles of Parowan, recently returned from the mission field. The other two are William Edwin Anderson of Paragonah. and Ken William Esplin of Kanarraville. Mr. Dalley reports that some difficulty has arisen in the proposed pro-posed induction of Norman- Phillip Phil-lip Hunter Michaud, who registered regis-tered at Cedar City. Michaud had been deferred by the local board because he claimed to be a veteran vet-eran of military service, providing provid-ing the board, with detailed information in-formation on his service. Now Michaud, Mi-chaud, who has passed the induction in-duction age of 26 years, admits that he was not in military service, ser-vice, according to Mr. Dalley, but rather was in the Civilian Conservation Service. When this was learned from a letter written writ-ten to the board by the registrant, regis-trant, he was ordered to report immediately for induction. However, How-ever, he has failed to report, according ac-cording to the latest Information available to Mr. Dalley, apparently appar-ently claiming exemption be-because be-because of his age. Mr. Dalley will represent the local hoard at a meeting in Salt Lake City on Dec. 31, when General Gen-eral Lewls B. Hershey, national head of theSelective Service system, sys-tem, will meet with Selective" Service representatives of Utah. |
