Show Comparison Reveals Progress of Local Livestock Show Progress of the Southern Utah Livestock Show in the last It years can readily be seen in a comparison of the prize winning animals in the 1910 show and the recent 1951 show, according to Neil K. Boyter, secretary of the show association. This difference can be seen not only in the prices paid for animals, but in the quality of the show exhibits. The popularity populari-ty of the show can be seen in the increasing number of entries i each year, according to Mr. Boyter. Boy-ter. This is due, in no small part to the cooperation and backing of the many purchasers during the auction. The 1951 grand champion steer, a 910 pound animal, brought $1410, or $1.50 per pound. The official of-ficial records for the 1910 show are not available, but the grand champion steer in that year weighed approximately 900 pounds. This animal brought around $310, or close to 35 cents per pound. In addition, pictures of the two animals, testify to the difference in quality. As another example, according to Mr. Boyter, this year's grand champion fat lamb, weighing C0 pounds brought a record price of $10 per pound, or a total of $()00. In 1910, the grand champion cham-pion fat lamb weighed 98 pounds but brought only 50 cents per pound, or a total of $19. It is believed be-lieved that pictures in this issue of the Record will show the difference dif-ference In the quality of the two animals. An incentive for producing better bet-ter quality animals In this part of the state has been created by the show, according to Mr. Boyter, Boy-ter, which has been the purpose from the beginning. .
