EL ROY NELSON ft The significance of iron ore from Iron county to the progress of Utah during our present war time economy, will be stressed in an illustrated lecture by Dr. El-roy El-roy Nelson, to be given at the Cedar City Rotary club meeting, at the Escalante hotel, Tuesday, Tues-day, Oct. 9, at noon. G. O. Larson Lar-son program chairman, has invited in-vited other civic clubs to attend. Dr. Nelson, director of research for the Natural Resources committee com-mittee of Utah Association of Chamber of Commerce executives, execu-tives, is heading a group of committe members touring the southern part of the state. According to H. M. Endsley, Rotary president, the meeting will be highlighted by a motion picture, color slide lecture, especially es-pecially prepared this year to emphasize the importance of Individual In-dividual communities in contributing contrib-uting to . the progress of the state and the development of its natural resources. Dr. Nelson's talk is keynoted by the presentation presen-tation of an Encyclopedia Bri-tannica Bri-tannica motion picture "Productivity "Produc-tivity Key to Plenty." In addition to spotlighting Iron county's contribution through the production of iron ore, Dr. Nelson will point out the part played by each community in the advancement of the state, and how seemingly unrelated industries in-dustries actually affect each other vitally. In emphasizing the growth of the nation and Utah during the past century, Dr. Nelson will show the probable future development devel-opment of the state, and what Utah must accomplish to prepare for the thousands of jobs that will be required by the increasing increas-ing population in the next few decades. The current series of lectures is covering five southern Utah communities. The first will be given at Milford on Oct. 8, followed fol-lowed by Cedar City and St. George on Oct. 9, Kanab, Oct. 10, and Panguitch on Oct. 11. The program is sponsored jointly by the Associated Chambers Cham-bers of Commerce, the Salt Lake City Chamber of Commerce, Resources Re-sources Development committees in local communities, and the University of Utah Bureau of Business and Economic Research, of which Dr. Nelson is the director. |
