Show Redmen Score Victory Over Dixie High, 26-13; Draw Bye This Week The Cedar high school football team started its quest for the Dixie district title with a convincing con-vincing victory over Dixie high school in a game played at St. George, Monday night. The Ked-men Ked-men trimmed the Flyers by a score of 26 to 13. but Coach Glen Jackson's Cedar City squad dominated dom-inated the play much more than the score would indicate. The Redmen capitalized on two breaks to score two touchdowns touch-downs in the first half, the first one coming on the third play of the game. Dixie fumbled the kickoff and Cedar recovered, and on the second play J. N. Webster skirted end for 28 yards to score, and Norman Prince plunged over the goal line to give the Redmen a 7 to 0 lead. A short time later the Redmen recovered another Dixie fumble at midfield and then marched down the field for their second score with Prince plunging over for the touchdown, with Lawrence Law-rence Ashdown passing to Gary Middleton for the extra point. Before the half ended the Red-men Red-men made another sustained march and crossed the goal line on a nice forward-lateral play, but it was ruled that the lateral had gone forward and the touchdown touch-down was nullified. The Redmen were again within yards of the goal line when the first half ended, with the Cedar team leading lead-ing 11 to 0. Early in the second period the breaks went to Dixie when the Flyers recovered a fumble on Cedar's 10- yard line. Three plays and a 5 yard penalty against Cedar Ce-dar gave the Flyers their first score, when Darrell Booth crossed I the line on a quarterback sneak. The kick on the point after itouchdown try was low. With the two Redmen quarterbacks, quarter-backs, Ashdown and Don Ray Melling, running the team well, and with good passing mixed with long ground gains, the Cedar Ce-dar squad continued to score almost at will and two long marches ended in scores, with Prince going over for one of the touchdowns and Sheldon Aiger for the other. Wi:h the Dixie team trailing 26 to 6, a series of penalties against the Redmen pushed Cedar back up to their goal line and Weldon Williams, outstanding Dixie ball carrier, crossed the line, and Adams skirted his own left end to make the point after touchdown and run the score to 26 to 13. The Redmen were again driving toward to-ward the Dixie goal when the game ended. Practically every member of Coach Jackson's Redmen squad turned in good performances, handling the ball well, giving the ball carriers good blocking and stopping the Dixie team in its tracks with excellent tackling.
