Show Cedar City Elks Pay Honor To Local Ladies Wives and mothers of Iron county men in military service were the honored guests of the Cedar City Elks lodge at a banquet ban-quet Friday night, the Elks paying pay-ing tribute to the women who are sacrificing so much in the present emergency. The honored guests gathered at El Escalante hotel ballroom, where the banquet was served, and spent a very pleasant evening. eve-ning. As she entered each lady was presented with a corsage and at each plate was a tiny American flag. Warren Bulloch, exalted ruler of the lodge, welcomed the guests and Mrs. Harold Adams, president presi-dent of the Ladies of Elks, presided. pre-sided. Toasts from the guests were given by Mrs. Webster Leigh, Mrs. Arlo Stewart and Mrs. Max Dalley. As a feature of the program a singing contest was conducted conduct-ed by Mrs. Leigh, In which the women in order of the rank held by their husbands and sons, joined In groups, with Mrs. Frank Dalley, the only person representing a lieutenant colonel, (Continued on Back Page) Banquet (Continued from Page One) walking off with top honors. Preliminary dinner music was provided by Prof. Roy L. Halver-sen Halver-sen and his Singing Strings, with musical numbers on the program including a vocal solo, "My Hero" by Mrs. Scott Urie, a piano solo by Mrs. Elaine Johnson, a vocal solo, "My Little Grey Home in the West", by Blaine Johnson, John-son, who returned from Korea recently, and an original number num-ber by the .vives of the "Korean "Kor-ean Crooners", Mrs. Don Wood, Mrs. Klien Rollo, Mrs. Floyd Munson and Mrs. Dclton Bet-trkige. Bet-trkige. Prayer was given by Lee Wood, lodge chaplain. Contributing to the success of the affair was the efforts of the members of che Ladies of Elks who very graciously served the j banquet. |
