Show BAC to Call for Bids On $35-50,000 Improvement Project Bids are expected to be called for soon by the Branch Agricultural Agricul-tural college for a repair and improvement program, which is expected to cost between S35,000 and $50,000, according to Hazen Cooley, school secretary. Consulting engineers have made a survey of the campus with staff members of the BAC to study replacement of part of the steam line on the upper campus and to add additional lines. The project was approved during the summer by the board Of examiners, and money has been allocated for the work. Pitting in the present steam pipe, which carries heat from the plant to the campus buildings, has necessitated the project. All pipe will be replaced, except for the new sections which were installed in-stalled when the new steam plant was put into use. This includes in-cludes a line running to the fieldhouse, to the boys' dormitory dormi-tory and from the old plant to the new one. In addition to replacing the rest of the system, new lines will be put in to the Thorley music mu-sic hall and to the director's cottage. cot-tage. Preliminary surveys for the work have been prepared by Prof. Theron Ashcroft, who is also al-so working on contour maps. This work is being done in preparation prep-aration for the letting of the bids. However, availability of materials for the work, may delay' de-lay' the job. Jack Heath, engineer and rep-presentative rep-presentative of the Utah Coal dealers, and James A. Wade, sup- erintendent of construction for the state building committee, have been in Cedar City, helping help-ing the local staff complete preliminary pre-liminary work on the project. |
