Show State Republican Women Leaders Hold GOP Meeting in Cedar City Five Utah Republican women's i leaders met with local and regional reg-ional representatives Wednesday night in the high school to discuss dis-cuss political education with the women of Region Six. Present were Mrs. Vlrd C. Garner, state vice chairwoman of Ogden, and Republican Women's Federation of Utah officials, Mrs. Alex J. Jex, president of Salt Lake City; Mrs. Arthur D. Taylor, first vice president presi-dent of Provo; Mrs. George Hunter Hunt-er Lunt, second vice president of Salt Lake City, and Mrs. Glen A. Finlayson, head of the speaker's buteau of Salt Lake City. Mrs. Myron Higbee, Iron county director di-rector conducted the meeting, and Mrs. Wilson Lunt, director region six, presided. The ladies from the state organization or-ganization were entertained at dinner at the El Escalante hotel Wednesday evening before the l meeting by local and regional! leaders. The Region Six conferences are the first of seven and possibly eight state confabs which will endeavor to Impress upon the Republican Re-publican women of Utah their responsibility re-sponsibility of working for better government through political education ed-ucation and discussion groups. The women's unit is founded to support the state organization during election year, to bring the candidates before the people and the people before the candidate, to assist with the organization, machinery such as supplying election watchers, judges, etc., and generally to maintain poll-tical poll-tical Interest among women. According to Mrs. Jex, It Is the concensus of opinion at these conferences that apathy be overcome over-come and women use their franchise fran-chise to vote intelligently. Region Six meetings to date have been held in Panguitch, St. George, Kanab, Parowan and Beaver as well as Cedar City. |
