Show Youths Leave ior CAP Training Jit Lovry Field Roger Matheson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Duayne L. Matheson, and Gary Macfarlane, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest W. Macfarlane, left Cedar City for Salt Lake City Saturday where they Joined Join-ed a croup of other young Utah Air Scouts and CAP Cadets before be-fore flying to Denver Sunday where they will take part in a two weeks Civil Air Patrol Cadet training school at Lowry Field Army Air Base. The two boys, both cadets in the Cedar City Squad. Utah Wing, of the Civil Air Patrol, auxiliary Army Air Force unit, will be at the Denver field undergoing extensive training train-ing for a two week period. The local Elks Lodge assisted the two youths financially, thus making it possible for them to make the trip. While at Lowry Field, the youths will undergo the training train-ing program in the following fields, pilot course, aircraft engine en-gine course, armament course firing on ranges, military drills and parades, physical training, rides in several types of military aircraft, tours and lectures on base weather, personal equipment equip-ment care, base operations, control con-trol tower, and link trainer time. The big social affair of the course will be a cadet dance at the conclusion of the two weeks of study, as well as post theatre privileges during the encampment. encamp-ment. Dr. P. K. Edmunds, commander of the local CAP squadron, said that all bovs interested In air scouting or any other form of aviation training should contact him before regular classes start again in September. Senior unit men and women, 18 years and over, are also urged to take an active part in the program, Dr. Edmunds said.
