Show Prominent City Civic Worker Succumbs J. N. Smith, 67, long time rei-ident rei-ident of Cedar City, former city councilman, and prominent southern Utah livestockman, died Thursday morning of complications complica-tions following a stroke at the family home. Mr. Smith had been in ill health since he. suffered suf-fered a stroke four years ago, and has been confined to his bed since last November. Born September 9, 1880, in Ka-nab, Ka-nab, he lived in Glendale, Kane county where he operated a ranch and was engaged in the livestock business until 1912 when he moved to Cedar. He married mar-ried Margaret Carpenter, December Decem-ber 27, 1900 In Glendale. ' Very active In civic affairs, Mr. Smith was a member of the BPOE, Rotary club and the Southern Utah Livestock Association. Associa-tion. He was a member of the LDS church. He is survived by his widow and eight sons and daughters, Mrs. Falone Hunter, Mrs. Lillian Clark, Claude L. and J. Vurge Smith, all of Cedar City; Mrs. Vilate Fuller and Mrs. Nola Hunter, Hunt-er, both of rhoenlx, Arizona; (Continued on Bock Page) I. N.Smith Death Continued from Front Page Boyd C. Smith, Glendale; John C. and Jamos Smith of Cedar City. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p. m. in the Cedar College ward under the direction of bishop Roscoe Graver and burial bur-ial will be directed by the Southern South-ern Utah Mortuary. Friends may call at the family home Monday Mon-day from 10 a. m. until the time of the services. |
