Show Livestock Show Committees Report Progress At a meeting of the executive committee and the chairmen of commltees of the eighth annual Southern Utah Livestock Show Tuesday evening, plans for this year's meet were pushed further toward completion, Dr. T. Donald Bell, publicity chairman, said Wednesday. Clarence Schmutz, premium booklet committee chairman, reported re-ported that response of local businessmen this year has been as fine as in past years, and that Cedar City merchants are supporting sup-porting the show to the limit. Mr. Schmutz said also, that firms in the surrounding communities are boosting the show and have responded very well to the premium pre-mium booklet. The Iron County Commission again will donate $1,000.00 to the livestock Show. Kimball Jenson told those present pre-sent at the meeting that the new stockshow shed at the Branch Agricultural College campus is progressing very satisfactorily and that from present appear ances the shed will be ready for the 1948 show. When finished, the shed will add a great deal to the permanent show facilities. Iron county agricultural agent, Lamont E, Tueller, reported that there will be approximately 150 fat beef, 100 fat lambs and 50 fat hogs entered by county 4-II Club and Future Farmer members mem-bers in this year's show. The breeding classes of 6heep and cattle will also probably be well filled again this year. The breed-lng breed-lng sale committee, headed by II. H. Lunt, is working to secure sufficient entries to make an excellent ex-cellent sale at the show. Breeding rams are extremely scarce this year, but the committee commit-tee promises to have a sizeable offering of top rams for the event Discussion of the program for the second day of the show led to the recommendation that the calf scramble be repeated again, and that the plans for the banquet ban-quet honoring entrant be modi |
