Y.) bestowed its lifetime Liachievement award on Sherwood Schwartz. A sprightly workaholic of 68, Schwartz is a former Bob Hope comedy writer and creator of Gilligans Island , one of the most frequently rerun series in TV history. Shows in the 70s like Mary Tyler Moore and All in the Family. Surely, he concedes, these shows differed from each other in many ways, but they concerned themselves with positive social behavior. Whats happened now to these upbeat shows? Over the years, theyve given way to TV programs in prime time dealing with murder, drugs, porno, prostitution, gambling and violence. Its been goodbye Waltons, hello T.J. Hooker." Schwartz, however, is not without hope for the future of network TV programming. Luckily, he says, the most popular show on TV this year is The Bill Cosby Show, a warm, intelligent, family situation comedy. In a business where follow the leader is the prevailing motto, we should have more such shows at least this year and next.
