And yet, that draws me to it In many ways Measure comes the closest of any of Shakespeares plays to our modern dramas It isnt a play that is tied up neatly There are questions that are answered, but as we come to the end, there are many things that are not resolved In that sense, Measure is very modern In viewing the season. "Comedy of Errors, Macbeth, and Measure," Reidel says he thinks tmlays audiences are willing to see the three plays together " Comedy has neat, happy resolutions to it as dKs Macbeth, and in that drama, the central figure gets his comeuppance. In Measure, there is not the blissful reunion of lovers, the villain doesnt get his comeuppance and in that sense Measure makes a very nice counterpoint to the other two This season allows audiences to be satisfied with different kinds of solutions and resolutions. I like the show, and there are certain advantages in doing Comedy. For one thing, it does not demand the same mastery of the language that some of the others do, and there are not many long or complicated speeches. The show is very action oriented. This cast has a lot of energy going for it and they can put that to use here. Its almost a joy to have a play where everyone runs around and doesnt have to learn a lot of lines, though the show is very hard to do physically because it is so active. The director is also interesested in creating a real environment, a feeling for the marketplace where many of the scenes occur.
