Show WX Cat Chat making a game winning touchdown. touch-down. Practice makes perfect. Mike Wright is one of the best receivers in the state. Now the "wrightsters" family has neverfelt the need to purchase a tarp for their boat. When the atmosphere gets active, Mike sticks his arm out the window and holds his hand over the boat. The boat remains dry as a bone. The brother connection of Chad and Kitt, who is bad, both come up with great offense and defense. Receivers Re-ceivers Shaun Stephenson and Ryan Arbon both played great football. Our kicker, Dave Simon, using his recently obliterated leg, had more than his share of game-winning game-winning field goals. Big defense from Rob "Red and Sweaty" Smith, Jason Lund and Jason "Pectorallis" Troth all give quarterbacks quar-terbacks nightmares. Todd Fuller! Todd comprehends speeds a little differently than the rest of us mere mortals. It's a lot like the way an Angel comprehends compre-hends infinity, and we do not. It's the kind of comprehension that comes only from experience. Todd's physical speed and agility are equalled only by his quick thinking ability. This combination makes him without a doubt, one of the best quarterbacks in the state and a driving force behind this year's success. It was certainly rough for John Haning, starting out three years ago as the head coach. However, this year's success has him firmly established at WX, and has gained for him a great deal of respect from the students and faculty. We close this season, for many of the team their last, with a real sense of satisfaction, the kind that success always brings. We close with respect for our team. With respect re-spect for the effort, and pain which paid the price for their achievements. achieve-ments. When we look back on high school, this team will be in the forefront fore-front of our fond, and exciting memories. We will remember, of course, that you guys were "A Step Ahead." We will remember that you guys were the best! By ROB KIMP Somewhere over the past couple of weeks it happened. WX High beat the proverbial drum of WX achievement so intensely that it broke. It will be replaced with a much bigger, stronger drum, and therefore better suited to the enormous enor-mous job which it must perform. Our concert choir dazzled the crowd at Viewmont High on the 2nd with an entertaining variety of music, conducted by Neil Hen-drickson. Hen-drickson. The sound produced was much to the dismay of the other choirs present almost up to WX choral department standards. It gets better. Our lady volleyball 'Cats accomplished accom-plished a great deal in going to state. The accomplishments continue, con-tinue, as they play through the tournament. We really appreciate you guys. As the voice of the school I now have a horrendous responsibility. That is to convey to the players, and coaches of the football team, the overwhelming pride, and gratitude grati-tude we feel for them This small tribute to a few of the most outstanding out-standing players who together make up the best football team ever, hardly does them justice. Perhaps the reason for our outstanding out-standing defense is our ability to play three big men at center where other teams get only one. His name is "Big" Don Anderson. Now it is hard to comprehend big until you regain consciousness in the middle of a grassy meadow hearing in the distance a medic explaining that it is really possible to lead an active life from a wheelchair. Presently Donovan's most serious college offers are coming from Air Force, and the Arkansas Razor Backs. Shaun "Spud" Cullimore has, throughout his athletic career, achieved more with his 5'6" 140 pound body than would seem hu- manly possible. The reason is Spud : is 120 pounds heart. It is often said : of Shaun by his teammates that he is the guy who never gives up. It is all too common to see Shaun, the : smallest player on the field, bring-: bring-: ing down people twice his size or running over them. Chadd 'Quad" Watson, that tall, ' dark, handsome ladies' man, is just : as suave and debonair on the field, i as off. I want all of you to go out ; and try being suave and debonair while beating up a running back or 4 |
