Show I Coach is inspiring success in Btfl. Sharks for nine years, both with the Sharks and at Viewmont High. He has worked with such coaches as Frank Bates, Dan Maroney, Kir-sten Kir-sten Sevrom, Colleen Fisher-Broce Fisher-Broce and Bill Broderick. He was a region champ while at Viewmont, setting school records that still exist. ! By TOM HARALDSEN j Sports Editor i BOUNTIFUL Just how important im-portant is the power and expertise of a coach? There are many exam-j exam-j pies of that importance in the world I of sports, but one need look no farther than the Bountiful Sharks j Swim Team. I Since taking over the coaching : reins of the team, Doug Fadel has j bd the Sharks to a third place finish i in state (compared to 1987, when no members even qualified for state). In this, his first year as coach, Fadel was named Coach of the Year for the state of Utah. Last season, the Sharks had 30 members. Under Fadel, that number num-ber grew to over 100 members. Fadel's club hosted the Long Course Junior Olympics this year, and he was elected the coaches' representative for the Utah Swimming Swim-ming Board of Directors. Monica Paluso, whose son Chad swims for the Sharks, was named treasurer for that board. Fadel has swum competitively 'He's praised by swimmers as a very j hard worker. ' " ''' ' ' ? He also intends to someday some-day write a book. He's praised by swimmers and parents alike as a hard worker. Congratulations to Doug and the Sharks on a successful season.
