Show Services set today for victim of auto-motorcycle accident James Leon Fillis itl Funeral services will be conducted con-ducted today at 2 p.m. in the Springville Third-Ninth Ward Chapel for James Leon Fillis, 22, who lost his life in an auto-motorcycle auto-motorcycle accident August 3, 1969, near Nephi. He was the husband of the former JoAnn Chader of this city. Friends may call at the Wheeler Mortuary prior to the services. Bishop Glenn B. ,Or-ton ,Or-ton of the Ninth Ward will officiate. of-ficiate. Burial will be in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery with military rites by the Springville American Legion Post 28. According to the Utah Highway High-way Patrol, which investigated the accident, Fillis was traveling trav-eling south and attempting to pass another vehicle when he collided with a car driven by Steven Don Hardman, 20, 280 - S. 100 W, Pleasant Grove. The accident took place a few miles south of the Utah-Juab Utah-Juab County line at 8:29 p.m., Sunday. JoAnn Fillis, wife of the deceased, de-ceased, was following her husband hus-band in a car at the time of the accident. Wheeler Mortuary of Springville, picked up the body at the scene of the crash. Mr. Hardman and his wife, Connie, were treated at the Juab County Hospital and released. re-leased. James Leon Fillis, 22, 261 W. 100 So., Springville, was born September 22, 1946, in Mt. Pleasant, a son of Leon and Lois Jensen Fillis. He married JoAnn Chader on November 6, 1955, in Elko, Nevada. At the time of his death he was employed at the Cox Construction Con-struction Company in Manti. Mr. Fillis had been raised in Provo, and had attended Provo schools, graduating from Provo High School in 1964. He joined the U. S. Army in 1966, and was discharged in 1968. He was a sophomore at Snow College at the time of his death. He was interested in all sports while in college. He was a member of the LDS Church. Surviving are his widow of Springville; his parents of Provo; Pro-vo; two brothers and one sister, sis-ter, Jerry Fillis and Randy Fillis both of Provo, and Mrs. Barney (Vickie Lynn) McWor-ton, McWor-ton, Los Angeles, California; and two grandmothers, Mrs. Lula Jensen, Moroni, and Mrs. Verda Fillis, Mt. Pleasant. One child preceded him in death. |
