While construction of the $285,000 addition is under way, two classes will be housed in the Mapleton LDS Church across the street, two in the Mapleton City Hall, and one in the multipurpose room of the existing wing, according to Superintendent Su-perintendent Joe A. Reidhead. These arrangements will involve in-volve approximately 150 of the Supt. There are three major remodeling projects being be-ing done along with the general maintenance that is needed each year The general maintenance includes in-cludes such items as building repairs, care of floors, plumbing plumb-ing and heating, electrical repair re-pair and care of grounds. Construction work on the new wing will not be completed until late in the spring, and it is not likely that the wing will be occupied very long before school closes. Calendar okayed Annual colendar for the Nebo School District has been approved ap-proved by members of the school board. A principal's workshop is scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, August 18-19, with new teacher orientation on August Au-gust 22. Institute and faculty meetings will be held August 27. First semester of classwork will end January 16, 1970 and classwork ends and high school graduation will be held May 27. Teacher check-out day is May 28. Scheduled holidays include: September 1, Labor Day; October Oc-tober 9-10, UEA convention; October 20, deer hunt; November Novem-ber 27-28, Thanksgiving; December Dec-ember 24 to January 2, 1970, Christmas and New Years; and April 1970 (second Thursday and Friday), spring vacation. Teacher contracts Although teacher salary negotiations ne-gotiations are still underway. Dr. Joe A. Reidhead reports that the district is almost fully staffed for the opening of school. Contract negotiations are "getting closer," he reported, anticipating that an agreement will soon be reached between the district and the Nebo Education Edu-cation Association. The only contracts signed so far are with the 63 new teachers teach-ers who will be taking positions this fall, Dr. Reidhead said. |
