Show - Story of carols told at Alpha Beta Club "The lights for Christmas'' party for members of Alpha Beta Club was held at the home of Mrs. Myron Childs Friday with Mrs. Thomas Smith as co-hostess. Club members were served a delicious luncheon. President Mrs. Sheldon Nielson presided and discussed briefly several items of business. The club will participate in giving money to one of the rest homes in the city as a project. It was announced an-nounced that the Art Tea will be held this year on April 19, 1969. Mrs. Earl Condie gave a report on the legislative council coun-cil meeting. Dave Reynolds talked on the use of drugs and their becoming becom-ing habitforming if taken too often and of sufficient dosage. Mrs. Earl Goates acted as narrator in introducing the Christmas program and told of the origin and history of the following- Christmas carols: "I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day," sung by the group. The trio of Barbara Bartholomew, Carol Nielson and Janet Packard Pack-ard sang, "Oh Come All Ye Faithful," a c c m p a nied by Oleah Sargent. The group sang, "Oh Little Town of Bethlehem" and the trio sang, "When Christ was born in Bethlehem" and "Chris tmas Lullabye." "Far, Far Away on Judea's Plain" was sung by the group and Mrs. Sargent played a medley of Christmas songs. The trio sang, "Silent Night." Mrs. Goates read a take off on "A Partridge in a Pear Tree." For the final number the trio sang "Please Put a Penny in an Old Man's Hat." Gifts were exchanged exchan-ged around a beautifully decorated decor-ated Christmas tree. |
