Show Anyone selling firearms ammo must now be licensed, IRS says application has been made for such a license. To qualify for a license under un-der the new law, a person must be 21 years of age, have a place of business in the U.S. and not be a convicted felon. Records of firearms and ammunition am-munition sales must be kept by businessmen to assure that the new controls are followed. Details on the new law, ammunition am-munition sales, licensing, etc., may be obtained by contacting the IRS Alcohol and Tobacco Tax Division, Room 409, Post Office and Courthouse Building, 4th South and Main Street, Salt Lake City, or telephone 524-5854. Besides the license requirement, require-ment, the new gun law also establishes controls on the sales of firearms and ammunition. No one under the age of IS may be sold firearms or ammunition am-munition of any type and a person has to be 21 to buy pistols, pis-tols, revolvers or ammunition for them. Anyone who sells firearms ammunition on or after December De-cember 16 must be licensed by the Internal Revenue Service under provisions of the Gun Control Act of 1968. Previously, dealers in shotgun and .22 caliber cal-iber ammunition were not required re-quired to have licenses. However, How-ever, by filing a license application appli-cation on time, a dealer not previously required to have a license may continue to sell ammunition pending action on his application. The fee is $10 and permits a dealer to sell both firearms and ammunition. Many businessmen will be required re-quired to obtain a Federal license li-cense to sell ammunition for the first time. For example, under un-der the new gun law, businesses such as food and general merchandise mer-chandise stores, gas stations and hardware stores who stock ammunition as a convenience to sportsmen and hunters must now be licensed. Application forms for license to sell ammunition are available at local IRS offices. The annual fee has been raised from $1.00 to $10. Pawnbrokers dealing in firearms must obtain a $25 license li-cense under the new law. The IRS said anyone with a valid Federal license to sell firearms and ammunition may continue to do business under this license until it expires. Then it must be renewed in compliance with the new law. IRS said ammunition dealers may not make sales on or after December 16 without a valid license.
