Show Elk hunting program saw new chanqes made in many areas successful and has saved both the Fish and Game and the hunter much time, trouble, and expense in handling the money part of the elk application. Utah's elk hunting program saw some significant changes this year as several areas of the State were opened to an open bull elk hunt. Also, on the restricted areas where the hunters had to apply for permits, per-mits, the applications were accepted ac-cepted without an accompanying accompany-ing permit fee for the first time. On the opeen bull areas the hunters paid for the permits as they applied for them, but on the controlled areas only the persons successful in drawing out were notified and then they sent in the proper fee and were issued their elk permit. Out of 1,025 persons successful success-ful in the drawing only 10 failed to send in their money. All ten of these persons have now forfeited their elk permits for this year and they will not be eligible to apply for elk permits per-mits for the next four years as is the case for all elk hunters hunt-ers who have had a permit in Utah.
