Show j! Mapleton News Mrs. Lois Graves Phone 489-6674 Mr. and Mrs. Roger Evans were visited Sunday by Mr. and Mrs. Ed Sisson and family formerly of Cobleskill, New York. They are now residing in Provo where Mr. Sisson is attending BYU. Michael Evan Graves, son of Bishop and Mrs. Norman Graves entertained s i x t een young friends Friday afternoon after-noon in his home with a birthday birth-day party honoring him on his sixth birthday. A dancing class is being sponsored by the Mapleton City Recreation. Registration will be Thursday, November 9, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Memorial Hall. JoLyn Smith of Spanish Fork will be the instructor. Jazz, tap, acrobat, ballet will be taught in classes each Thursday afternoon and Saturday Satur-day morning. Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Mason Ma-son had as their guests three days the past week an uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Baldwin of Long Beach, Calif. Eldon Hjorth, son of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Hjorth, returned from a two and one-half . year mission to Finland, Monday evening, November 6. On his return trip he stopped in Norway, Nor-way, Copenhagen, England and at his sister, Suzanne's in Washington, D.C. A high priest quarterly party par-ty of Mapleton First Ward was held Oct. 27, for members and their wives at the home of Lon Cox. The home was attractively at-tractively decorated with Halloween Hal-loween decorations. Mrs. Carter Car-ter entertained the group with various readings and recitations. recita-tions. These were enjoyed very much by the group who encored en-cored her time and again. Mrs. Birdie Cox was hostess with Mrs. Betty Bayless, and Mrs. Lois Bartholomew assisting. Mrs. Cox and Mrs. Donna Brown helped direct the games. Prizes were given to Mrs. Bonnie Bon-nie Gividen and Mr. Willis Harmer as winners of the games. A delightful luncheon was served to the 33 who were present. Mrs. Clip (Ronella) Taylor's father, Mr. Charles Helquist died Wednesday Nov. 1. Many friends and relatives from Mapleton Ma-pleton and Springville attended attend-ed the funeral which was held Saturday at Koosharem. Mrs. Taylor is planning to stay for awhile with her mother. Russell Snyder, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Snyder fell from a ladder and cut his knee and it required 22 stitches. He will be in bed for about a week. The Snyder family is expecting a guest, Alecia Buel-stein, Buel-stein, this weekend. She will be visiting for about a week and is from Texas. M Men basketball league play will be starting November Novem-ber 15. Mr. and Mrs. Don Smith (Donna Curtis) have recently moved into the Mapleton Second Sec-ond Ward. Wells Wentz, son of Mr. and Mrs. Maston Wentz was home for a few days during the deer hunt and has now returned to Vietnam. Lynn Johnson is still in the Utah Valley Hospital recovering recover-ing from major surgery. Mr. and Mrs. Don Roundy's daughter, Sharon K. became the bride of Max G. Kelson, Friday, November 3. A reception recep-tion to honor the newlyweds was held at Bart's Catering Friday evening. An open house was held at Provo Thursday evening to honor newlyweds, Raymond and Delia May Thorn (Mad-sen). (Mad-sen). The couple was married Oc t. 13, and are living in Mapleton at the present time. Brian Murray, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Murray was given his Eagle Scout Award at the court of honor held last week. There will be a turkey shoot held November 11-12 and 18-19 sponsored by the Jaycees. This will be at the Armory Rifle Range in Mapleton Canyon. The hunt will be from noon to dark and iron gun sights are to be used only. The U.S. population will reach 200 million in the middle of November, 1967, according to an Institute of Life Insurance Insur-ance projection of current Census Bureau figures. The population passed 100 million in 1914. |
