Show Mexican - Spanish Dance Group A flurry of skirts, the thunder of clicking heels, and the exciting music of the bullfight this is just a sample of what is in store when Utah Ballet Folklorico comes to Cedar City on May 24th at 7:00 p.m. in the SUSC Auditorium. The 27 dancers and musicians will present an evening of authentic Mexican dances, complete with traditional costumes to the accompaniment of a live mariachi band. Organized in 1973 to foster better understanding of the traditional Mexican and Spanish cultures, Utah Ballet Folklorico has performed in virtually every corner of the state to the enjoyment of all audiences. The Cedar City performance will include dances and music, both ancient and traditional, representing five different Mexican cultural regions. Under the tutelage of Augustin del Razo, artistic director, the. dance company has expanded its repertoire to acquaint the people of Utah with the beautiful Mexican culture. Eventually, Even-tually, the company plans to provide a complete fine arts . Utah Ballet Folklorico . facility, where, not only dance, but Mexican art,, music and writing can be introduced to the general public. mmm mm The dance concert is free and dance lovers of all ages are encouraged to attend, especially students in third grade and up. |
