Show School teachers reach agreement pointed out that the dental insurance would be a participating insurance with employees to pay the difference for family members. It is also a 20-80 policy with the district employees paying 20 percent of all claims in dental insurance cases. In the negotiations it was also agreed that the cost study and job description program would be undertaken un-dertaken with an independent firm, Utah Inter-Governmental Personnel Agency. The agency has provided similar services to other school districts and Cedar City Corporation. Bruce Decker, projects director for the district, indicated that the program would be over a two year period. The project contains five steps including: orientation, job evaluation and classification, wage and salary . plan, personnel policies and Salary schedules for employees of the Iron County School District were approved for the 1980-81 school year at the meeting of the Board of Education Monday. In negotiations with both the professional staff and the classified employees the addition of dentral insurance was ratified by the employees em-ployees and approved by the Board. For teachers in the district the percentage increase was 11.2 percent with an additional one percent for dental insurance for a total increase of 12.2 percent. For classified personnel the base increase was 12.1 percent with 1.8 percent for dental care for a total increase of 13.9 percent. Approval was given by the board for the hiring of 11 employees for the 1980-81 school year. Approved were the following : Cedar High School: J.D. Wallace as wrestling coach and one half day in Special Education instruction; Virgil Johnson in social studies and assistant wrestling and football coach; David Nelson, industrial arts and assistant wrestling and football coach; Jody Heaps, language arts and forensics; and Laura Bailey, women's basketball coach and assistant volleyball coach. Parowan High School: Donna Owens, physical education and coach for the women's programs. Cedar Middle School: Kevin M. Glazier as a sixth grade core instructor; in-structor; Kim Matheson, as a seventh grade core instructor. North Elementary: McKay Mid-dlesworth Mid-dlesworth as a fourth grade instructor. in-structor. Escalante Valley Elementary: Donna Pedersen, secretary and Valerie Pack as an aide. In other action the board: -approved final plans for the renovation of the Cedar Junior High (former Cedar High School Building) to accomodate the increased enrollment anticipated when the conversion to a middle school takes place for thq 1980-81 school year. The Gardner Partnership, Architects, Ar-chitects, presented the plans. Authorization to call for bids with the bid opening to be held June 17 was ' approved by the board. The project is expected to be completed in 75 calendar days. -set the date for the budget hearing to be held Monday, June 30 at 6 p.m. -hear a request from the Parowan PTA to implement a foreign language offering at the high school. Superintendent Morris and Principal Quinten Bowler, were asked to consider con-sider the request and formulate a recommendation for the board, -five employees of the district who will retire a t the end of the school yea r were honored at the board and each presented with a symbolic school bell in recognition of their service. Retiring employees include Myrtle Davis from the North Elementary; Arta Dalton, Parowan High School Home Economics instructor; Carol Brown, lunchroom worker at North Elementary; and Beryl Vorkink, an instructor at North Elementary.
