Twelve Southern Utah .State, College seniors have been nominated for Pestalozzi awards, made annually to outstanding graduates in elementary and secondary education by the school of education. "The SUSC awards are made ' in honor of Henry Pestalozzi who is often recognized ; as the 'father' of modern education," James M. Miller, dean of the SUSC School of Education said. "Each year two awards are given, one to the outstanding elementary education graduate, the other to the student who has the greatest potential as an outstanding secondary teacher." Pestalozzi winners for 1979-80 will be announced at the Thunderbird Awards Assembly Thursday evening. "It is a great honor to be nominated for one of these awards," Miller said. "Students being honored as such exemplify the qualities and ideals the great educator Pestalozzi established in his three-fold program of education-education education-education of the heart, education of the head, and education of the hand." The six students nominated for the Pestalozzi award in elementary education include: -Mary Jo Chase-daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Hartman, Fond du Lac, Wisconsin; a 1979 graduate of Campbellsport High School, Campbellsport, Wisconsin. Married to Michael L. Chase. -Sandra Gail Curtis-daughter Curtis-daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kent Curtis, 1441 Fernwood Drive, Salt Lake City. A 1975 graduate of Cottonwood High School. -Jill Henderson-daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. Evan Henderson, 3213 Nottingham Drive, Las Vegas. A 1976 graduate of Chaparral High School. ,-Sue A.
