Show Duck Creek Navajo Areas Studied The Dixie National Forest Interdisciplinary Team has completed the preliminary draft report of the Environmental En-vironmental Analysis of the Navajo Lake-Duck Creek Recreation Complex for the purpose of developing a long-range management plan. This process was. conducted in accordance with the requirements of the National Environmental Policy Act. The public is invited to inspect and comment on the draft by June 20, 1980. Summaries of the preferred alternatives and recommended recom-mended management Navajo Summer Homes and the old Boy Scout camp site. A range of four alternatives alter-natives was considered for each site or facility which included "(1) No Action. All facilities are to be left in their currently managed condition, modified and maintained only to meet safety standards and minimum improvements. (2) Close, terminate, remove. Close or terminate all man-made facilities, and restore the site to a natural condition. Manage as an undeveloped recreation area. (3) Terminate-Convert. Terminate-Convert. Terminate the requirements and constraints, con-straints, which are excerpts from the report, will be sent to any person so requesting from the Cedar City Ranger District, P.O.Box 627, Cedar Ciyt, Utah 84720, telephone 801-586-4462. Copies of the entire report are available for review at the District Ranger's Office which is located in the Federal Building, 82 North 200 East, Cedar City, Utah. The analysis considers some 21 sites or facilities within the popular recreation complex, some of which include: Navajo Lake Campground, Cascade Falls Trail, Duck Creek Campground, Cam-pground, Navajo sewage, permitted uses and convert the site to other public uses. And (4) Upgrade, Expand, Develop. Allow the upgrading, expansion and development of the site or facility. AH development is to be compatible with surrounding forest resources." The effects of implementing im-plementing each alternative were evaluated, measured against the evaluation criteria and then a preferred alternative was identified. Management requirements and constraints were specified for the proposed alternatives for each site or facility. |
