Show Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Asay Jr. entertained at their home on Jan. 1 honoring his mother, Mrs. Nancy Asay. Guests wore Mr. and Mrs. Hyrum Leany Sr., Mr. and Mrs. A. A. McCain, Mrs. Andrew Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Al-bert Snyder and Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Gibbons and family. Following Fol-lowing the dinner, the afternoon was devoted to old time music and to recounting early experiences exper-iences in Dixie. Mr. and Mrs. James P. Clayton and daughter, Carol Louise, were here from Salt Lake City visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Earl Cottam Saturday over Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Charles R. Sullivan Sul-livan entertained, at a family dinner din-ner at their home, Monday, Jan. 1, honoring Mrs. Sullivan's parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Short. The occasion was their 61st wedding wed-ding anniversary. During the dinner hour, their son, Frank, greeted them by telephone from Spanish Fork. ' S Mr. and Mrs. Murray Harris and Mr. and Mrs. Barney Tebbs of Los Angeles were holiday guests in St. George of Mr. and Mrs. Reed Blake, along with their mother, Mrs. Minnie Harrie of Leeds. During the week they were joined by another brother, Pvt. Ralph Harris, who is stationed station-ed at McCaren Field, Nevada in training with the army air forces. .V. 1C -v W Several informal dinner parties have been given this week honoring honor-ing Mrs. Olive Milburn, who is here from Salt Lake City visiting relatives. Mr. and Mrs. John W. Pace were hosts Monday evening, Mrs. A. B. Andrus, Tuesday night and Mrs. Mae Harris on Wednesday Wednes-day night. One of the special parties of the holiday season was that given Dec. 24 by Mr. and Mrs. Tom Jones for the J. C. Penny Company Com-pany employees and their partners. part-ners. Lunch was followed by the singing of carols, games and the opening of gifts. The Jones home was artistically decorated for the event. The St. George Lions held their annual holiday stag turkey dinner last Thursday evening. oe. -c if " Mrs. Edna Johnson and children child-ren were here from Provo over the week end visiting relatives and friends. They were guests Monday of Col. and Mrs. Roy Williams. oi. 'I- '.I- 'If Holiday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Reber were their daughter, Roma who is teaching school in Tooele, and their son, Kent, PhM 3c from Shoemaker, Calif. Roma is discontinuing teaching Friday, Jan. 8, and on Jan. 9, will report at Bushnell as cadet nurse to take training in physcotherapy. Miss Evelyn Hawkins is returning return-ing this week to her studies at the B. Y. U., Provo after visiting over the holidays with her parents,, par-ents,, Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Hawkins. Visiting this week at the home of Mrs. Charlotte Atkin are Mr. and Mrs. Ezra Thurgood and Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Miller of Clearfield, Clear-field, Utah. Mrs. Thurgood and Mr. Miller are brother and sister of Mrs. Maude Cook. They arrived arriv-ed Tuesday evening and will leave I next week to spend the remainder of the winter in Mesa, Arizona. Mrs. Irwin Wood accompanied her five grandchildren to California Calif-ornia Sunday to visit their mother Mrs. Reva Jones. Miss Dean Syphus left last. Tuesday for Provo, whre she will attend the B. Y. U. over the winter and spring quarters. She accompanied ac-companied Miss Metta Johnson, who was home for the holidays. & jf Visiting in St. George over Sunday Sun-day were Mr. and Mrs. Lee Jones who were enroute from spening the holidays with' Mrs. Jones' parents in Hinckley, to Caliente where Mr. Jones has employment. A The South ward committee reminds re-minds members of all four wards that a testimonial is being held in their recreation hall this (Thursday) (Thurs-day) evening for Mr. and Mrs. Marcell Schmutz,. who leave Friday Fri-day for a mission.
