Show r Hunting Licenses Show Small Drop in 1943 Despite wartime restrictions, hunting hunt-ing license holders during the 1942-43 1942-43 season numbered 8,049,537, according ac-cording to a preliminary report submitted sub-mitted to Secretary of the Interior Harold L. Ickes by the Fish and Wildlife service. The revenue derived de-rived by the states from the sale of these licenses amounted to $13,-455,636. $13,-455,636. Based on reports received from 44 states, plus estimates for the 4 remaining re-maining states from which reports have not been received so far, these figures represent a decrease of 441,-301, 441,-301, or only 5.2 per cent, in the number of license holders, and 3.2 per cent in revenue received, as compared with the 1942 figures. That 8,035,076 fishing licenses were sold to anglers during the fiscal year 1943 is indicated from reports collected by the service from 43 states, plus estimates for 5 other states. This is a decrease of 388.-142, 388.-142, or 4.6 per cent, as compared to the 8.423,218 angling license holders for the previous year. The revenue from the 1943 fishing licenses was $10,032,852. a decline of 6.5 per cent from 1942. |
