Show Santa Clara Cast Present Play Before Packed House By JUNIOR GATES "The Lovely Duckling," a hilarious hilar-ious dramatic comedy written especially for an amatuer group of young people, was presented Wednesday evening, December 27, in the Santa Clara recreation hall. This three act comedy, by the well known authors, Dorothy Bennett Ben-nett and Link Hanna, was the Ward's annual Christmas holiday play. Aand, as it was well advertised, ad-vertised, the auditorium was packed pack-ed to capacity. The entire set of the play was built upon the stage with members mem-bers of the cast and several townspeople assisting with the construction. The set, built in blue and white celotex, created an atmosphere amid realistic surroundings, sur-roundings, which helped to carry the play over one hundred per cent. Rosie, the Holms' housekeeper, who assisted "Pat" in getting out of some of her escapades, was taken by La Verre Frei. Ha Stucki as "Bunny" Post, cheerful, hearty, bumptious girl who loves to give advice, but who is regarded as an "infant terrible" by the grown-ups, and Dan Hafen as Albert Davidson, the young newspaper reporter at the summer resort, both friends of "Pat," furnished the comedy element with their various antics. Elaine Graff as Myra Edwards, Yvonne Frei as Annabelle Wilson and Spencer Reber as Freddie Amberly, all friends of the family, took their parts excellently as they helped "Pat" with her difficulties. dif-ficulties. Elgin Graff as Tom Holmes, the jovial, prosperous father of Patricia. Silvia Graff as Florence Spencer, the new step-mother, Irene Frei as Florence Flo-rence Cartwright. the guardian of the young movie star, Gloria Holmes, played by Edna Gubler. and Norman Gubler as Murphy, the Cartwright chauffeur assisted in bringing the performance to a fitting climax. The play was well directed and thoroughly enjoyed by everyone present and the entire cast." as well as the directors and production produc-tion personnel which consisled of Vella Ruth Hafen, Junior Gates. Vivian Graff. Beula Graff, Dan Hafen, Silvan Graff and Spencer Reber, received much praise and many compliments after the performance per-formance by those present. |
