Show Three Names Added To County List Of War Casualties An Enterprise boy is missing, a Hurricane boy is hospitalized and the son of a St. George woman is listed killed in action in this week's reports from the battle-fronts. battle-fronts. The boys are Pfc. J. Stanford Staheli of Enterprise, SSgt. Arthur M. Cromwell, and Cpl. Don Gibson of Hurricane. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Staheli received word from the war department dep-artment on Jan. 1 that their son, J. Stanford Staheli has been missing mis-sing in action in Germany since Dec. 3. He had been in the service serv-ice just one year and had his training at Camp Shelby, Miss, being overseas since August, 1944. SSgt. Arthur M. Cromwell is a son -ot Jvlns. Mary Holliday and graiidoiiof' Mr. and Mrs. A. A. McCain of St. George. SSgt. Cromwell came here with his mother several years ago. He joined the Army Air forces two years ago and was a tail gunner with a bomber crew. In late September, Mrs. Holliday and his wife, Helen Young Cromwell, who with their six year old son reside re-side in Ogden, were advised that he was missing in action Sept. 11, 1944. On Saturday, Dec. 30, a message from the war department depart-ment said he was killed in action as of that date, while on a bombing bomb-ing mission over Germany. The third casualty is Cpl. Don Gibson, brother of Mrs. Ward Wright of Hurricane, who has been in a hospital in England for a month. He belongs to a quartermaster quarter-master corps of the Third Army. While cooking Thanksgiving dinner, din-ner, his stove blew up, inflicting serious burns from which he is recovering. |
