Show 'Uncle Charley' Feted Tuesday, January 2 Tuesday, Jan. 2, was an eventful day for Charles W. Seegmiller, marking his 102 anniversary. Many relatives and friends called at his home to extend best wishes and bring tokens of admiration and appreciation. Among the gifts was a beautifully decorated anniversary annivers-ary cake from the Quality Bakery. His neice, Mrs. A. K. Hansen, arrived Monday evening from Richfield to spend the week with him and his daughter, Miss Fern Seegmiller. He received telephone greetings from his daughter, Mrs. Minnie Ahlstrom in Hemet, Calif, and from his grandson, Ray Smith who is in defense work in Cambridge, Cam-bridge, Mass. Many greetings came by mail, some from strangers strang-ers who had noted his picture and story in the state papers and were impressed. A huge box of red rose buds and yellow chrysanthemums chry-santhemums arrived from the Central Old Folks Committee in Salt Lake City. Tuesday was just as he wanted it, bright and sunshiney with no big fuss and trouble. He thoroughly thorough-ly enjoyed conversing with the more than 100 visitors who called during the afternoon and retired as usual, about 9 p. m., a trifle tired but serenely happy with the events of the day. |
