Show LaYERKIN Pansy L. Hardy Reporter LaVerkin scout troops gave a dance Friday evening, Dec. 29. The event was well attended and netted them more than $100 to add to their fund for a scout home. Scoutmasters Cyrus Gifford and Jack Eves were in charge of the dance and every scout participated. parti-cipated. The LaVerkin bishopric sponsored spon-sored a dance Wednesday night, Dec. 27. A large crowd attended. Reorganization of ward auxiliaries auxil-iaries was effected Sunday, Dec. 31. Wilford Thompson, Walter Segler and Clarence Sanders were released from the Sunday school superintendency, Cyrus Gifford, Theron Stevens and Mont Sanders Sand-ers being appointed in their stead. Released from the genealogy committee com-mittee were, Cyrus Gifford, Powell Pow-ell Stratton and Alice Gubler. Ovando Gubler, Wm. Neilson and Jack Eves were appointed to this committee. Max Woodbury was appointed as ward clerk, replacing Ervil Sanders who has served for 11 years. Mrs. Brigham Hardy had the misfortune last Tuesday to fall and break a rib while cleaning the bathroom. Pleurisy set in and she has been quite seriously ill. Visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Brigham Hardy during the holidays were Pvt. and Mrs. James and baby of Nebraska.Mrs. Jennie Barnum of St. George, Mr. and Mrs. Everet Harris of Mesquite, Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Stevens and family of Las Vegas and Harris Merrill of Cedar City. Visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Hardy during the past week were Mr. and Mrs. Hafen Leavitt and children of Overton, Sgt. and Mrs. Merlin Leavitt, Mrs. Jack Riley and daughter and Ned and Gerald Leavitt, all of Mesquite. Sgt. Leavitt returned to his post at Tampa, Florida o n Saturday. Hafen Leavitt just recently returned re-turned from the Aleutian Islands where he has been employed in defense work. Mr. and Mrs. Neil Heywood of Las Vegas were visitors at the home of Mrs. La Veil Hinton. Harris Merrill received word Sunday of the death of his brother, broth-er, Rulon somewhere in California Calif-ornia where he was employed in defense work. |
