Show Local Boy Scouts At Pine Valley Encampment Around 60 Boy Scouts left St. George Wednesday morning for their annual four-day encampment in the Pine Valley recreation area. They were accompanied by B. Glen Smith, scout executive and Leo G. Smith. The first load was gathered at 6:30 a.m., with the final group being picked up by .7:00 a.m. Steve Kirtland accompanied accom-panied the South ward Scouts. Jesse Gibbons was in charge of the trucks. During the four days the boys will have a varied program of camp activities, such as camp preparations, cooking, athletic contests con-tests and health tests, hikes, trail finding and other events. Some of them will be able to qualify for merit badges in these activities. activi-ties. Three West ward Scouts are to be given advancement while at camp. They are: Jay Lang and Jay Barton to be awarded Star Scout rank; and Jack Smith will be given his Life Scout award. I There are also some merit badges to be distributed among the troop. The other troops awards were not available, and will be published in next week's News, along with the activities at camp. |
