Show Ricks College Appoints John L Clarke President Appointment of John L. Clarke as president of the Ricks college of Rexburg, Ida., has just been announced by Dr. Franklin L. West, L. D. S. church commissioner commis-sioner of education. Mr. Clarke is a native of American Fork and has served as director of religion at Gila college, Thatcher, Ariz.; and Dixie junior college, St. George. . Mr. Clarke is at present working work-ing toward his Ph.D. degree in Los Angeles. He will go to Rexburg Rex-burg about the middle of August. Mrs. Clarke and their two daughters, daugh-ters, who have been spending the summer in American Fork will join him enroute. In this new position he succeeds Hyrum Man-waring, Man-waring, who will retire at the end of the fiscal year after many years in this position. Following his graduation from American Fork high school, Mr. Clarke attended the B. Y. U., receiving re-ceiving his A. B. degree in 1931 and his M. A. degree in 1932. While at the "Y" he was a member mem-ber of the debating team three years, president of the International Interna-tional Relations club, and vice president of the Delta Phi. He has since attended summer sessions ses-sions at the "Y", the University of California and the University of Southern California. Both he and Mrs. Clarke made many friends while residing in St. George. |
