Show Cowboys to clash in Oldtimers' Rodeo Cowboys from Montana, California, Utah, Colorado, Wyoming, Oklahoma, Nevada, Texas, Nebraska, Arizona and Idaho will compete in Vemal's 3rd Annual Oldtimers Rodeo, Friday and Saturday at the Uintah County Fairgrounds. The rodeo will begin each day at 8 p.m. The contestants are 40 years old and older. The oldest rodeo contestant is 83 year old Walt Horner of Las Vegas, Nevada, who will compete in the 60 year old and over team roping. The next oldest contestant is Bud Huseman of Lonetree, Wyoming, who is 74 years old and will team rope with Glen Wadsworth. Huseman will also take part in the calf roping event. Doyle Slagowski, 72 years old and Fon Slagowski, 64 years old, will com pete in the ribbon picking event. Woodey B. Searle of Vernal, 64 years old and Joe Reidhead, Roosevelt, 72 years old, will compete in the team roping event. Some of the other contestants are Kine Hatch, Hanna, Wyoming, a former Vernal resident, who will take part in the bronc riding; Doctor Jim Allen, who just turned 40 years old; E. V. Dorsey, Babe Haller, former calf and team roping champions and Sam Morgan, a former bronc riding champion. Over 100 contestants will be taking part in the Oldtimers Rodeo and there are over 200 entries. Slack will take place at 9 a.m. Saturday, and jackpot roping w ill occur Wednesday at 1 p.m., Thursday and Friday at 10 a.m. |
