Show Grateful for many who helped sandbag Dear Editor, My husband and I would like to express ex-press our gratitude to the many people peo-ple of our community who unselfishly are giving of their time and effort to help protect us who are threatened by flooding. They are too numerous to mention by name and many are complete com-plete strangers who came to our aid. Time after time as we've noticed the banks of the Ashley Creek eroding away we have called the Uintah County Coun-ty Shop and men and equipment were there to alleviate the danger whether it be night or day. We are the owners of Dina Mobile Home Park and Campground and when eighty or more families are involved in-volved and are in the path of a flood it takes a tremendous effort to see to their welfare. Friends from the sheriff's office, on their own time, and with the help of several tenants spread word of the eminent danger when it was thought the banks of the Ashley Creek on the Keith Squire's place on North Vernal Avenue were about to break on Sunday. We were directly in its path. Within an hour the campground camp-ground was evacuated and all the tenants in the mobile home park had been notified. During this time, and for several hours, over a hundred and fifty fif-ty people showed up to fill sandbags and put them in place. At this point, I must pay tribute to the local radio station sta-tion ; they have done so much lo direct the help to where it was needed. As tin-effort tin-effort went on lo sandbag the area, others showed up with food and drink to give to those who were working. Tenants who didn't know one another became friends through working together. There is such a feeling of warmth and earing th;it it is fantastic to be the recipient. People are wonderful ! We are proud to live m a community that cares y thank everyone for' their etlorts. Sincerely, LEWIS AND DONA AHHCiCI ,E t |
