Show Ducks Unlimited slates fund raiser banquet The Uintah Basin Chapter of Ducks Unlimited will have its seventh annual banquet at the Vernal Sheraton Inn April 30 to raise funds to restore and rehabilitate prime waterfowl breeding grounds in Canada. Ducks Unlimited was founded in 1937 after the sudden westward expansion of civilization after World War I and severe drought of the 1930s nearly destroyed Canadian breeding grounds for waterfowl Since its inception, DU has completed over 2,000 wetland restoration projects. More than $134 million has been raised, and nearly $100 million was spent on wetland improvement and management. Presently, DU membership stands at about 365,000, many have been enrolled by the over 1,700 'DU committees nationwide. At the local banquet, a social hour will began at 6 p.m. followed by a prime rib dinner at 7:30 p.m. After the meal, Woodey B. Searle will auction several DU art prints, commemorative com-memorative shotguns, local art works and decorative carved decoys.
