Show Manila Clara Robinson Phone 784-5333 Manila honor roll listed The Manila High School has released the honor roll for the third quarter. Students on the list are Natalie Radosevich, Robin Sadlier, Christy Jo Triplett, Blaine Thompson, Hoyt Skabelund, Genevieve Dickerson, Alan Friedman, Kevin Mitchell, Starla Des-pain, Des-pain, Deana Mitchell, Roxann Radosevich, Lisa Briggs, Marcie Briggs, Melissa Steinaker, Veronica Triplett, Debbie Sikich, Charmaine Hughes, Mike Cruz and Becky Barber. The region drama meet was held on April 11 at Park City High School. The following Manila High students received receiv-ed ratings of "Superior" and will represent repre-sent Manila High School at the state drama meet at BYU on April 29 and 30: Darla Beck and Troy Gale in scenes from plays. The following students received ratings of "Excellent" and will also represent Manila High School at the state meet: Blaine Thompson and Virtus Ked-dy Ked-dy in scenes from plays and Troy Gale in pantomimes. Six senior citizens from the Manila-McKinnon Manila-McKinnon area joined with the Duchesne County senior citizens for a trip to Florida. They left Monday and will be gone 20 days. They expect to see such attractions at-tractions as Disney World, the everglades and Cypress Gardens. Local people joining the tour are Christine Behunin, Myrtle Beck, Don and Ester Larsen, Mable and Cyril Potter. Manila High School students met in their first round of the fourth annual "Mock Trial Competition," as plaintiff against Uintah High School students as defendants in the case of "Vincent Taylor vs. Alta View Hospital for Women," at the Daggett County Courthouse Cour-thouse on Tuesday. Attorney coach for the Manila students was Clark Allred of Vernal. Teacher coach was Bill Carter. Judging panel was composed of Lance Wilkerson, Linda Lin-da Beckstead and Carole Scott. Students participating were Matthew Briggs, Lanette Robinson, Celeste Skabelund, Chris Wilkinson, Todd Cook, Becky Barber, Natalie Radosevich and Bruce Anderson. Manila scored 29 and Uintah 31. This is Manila's first experience in the competition. Two Manila brothers were honored at Courts of Honor in Green River, Wyoming Wyom-ing on Wednesday, April 13. David Briggs, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Briggs, received his first aid merit badge and his first class Scout badge. Following Follow-ing this court of honor his brother, Matthew, Mat-thew, received his Eagle Scout badge. It was presented to him by Stake President Alan Harman. The Cub Scouts and Webelos Scouts conducted a Pine Wood Derby at the Manila LDS church Thursday night. The winning car on the track for the Cubs belonged to Chris Van Houten with Stew Leith's car placing second. In the Webelos contest, Todd Beckstead placed plac-ed first and Steven Tate placed second. Third places were won by Justin Osborn and Dana Wilkinson. The "Best of Show" winners were Jason Archibald for the Webelos and Billy Rosser for the Cubs. Judges were Harold Hansen, Michael Potter, Paul Mattson, Rim Mattson, Burl Twitchell, Lee Colman and Bruce Christensen. Mr. and Mrs. Terell Collett of Dutch John are parents of a son born April 9. He weighed 8 lbs. and will be named Tyson Charles. He paternal grandparents grand-parents are Mr. and Mrs. Carl Collett of Dutch John. His maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Norman Long of Manila. He has two great grandmothers, Mrs. Vonda Batty of Vernal and Mrs. Delma Long of Roosevelt. He was greeted by two sisters and a brother. Mr. and Mrs. William Briggs, Sr., were Vernal visitors this weekend. They visited their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Doug Jarvie and with Bill's sister, Ida Bennett, who has been released releas-ed from the hospital. While there they enjoyed en-joyed the musical presented by USUEC. Mrs. Lillie Gerber of Logan is visiting with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. James Briggs and their children, Matthew, Lisa and David. The Primary children who are in the Green River Primary Choir journeyed to Green River, Wyo., to practice on Saturday. Mrs. Ferl Smith returned Sunday from a trip to California to visit her mother and her son. She made the trip with her brother, Rex Brady, and her sister, Vonda Von-da Clark. Mr. and Mrs. Huston Robinson and children, Amber and Ryan Paul of Las Vegas, Nev., who have been visiting Huston's parents, left for Logan to visit Mrs. Robinson's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Peterson. On Friday, Lori Ruble, Clara Robinson, Robin-son, Juanita Ellsworth and little Rae Ann Ruble journeyed to Logan where they |
