Show Browns Park road gets two improvements The Utah Department of Transportation Transporta-tion opened bids last week on a project to improve two sections of the Browns Park Road in Daggett County. The apparent low bid of $180,137 was submitted by Mecham Bros., Inc. of Ogden to do the work. The official engineer's estimate was $200,258. The project involves improving a 2,500 foot section of road in the Martin Draw area. A minor realignment of the road will be constructed there in order to eliminate a sharp curve and to improve the sight distance. The new alignment will be topped with 12 inches of granular borrow to provide a gravel surface. The second area involves a 3,100 foot section of road east of the realignment which becomes extremely slick during wet weather beause of its clay soil. That section of road will also receive a 12-inch layer of grandular surfacing in order to correct the problem. This work will improve im-prove driving conditions and make the road safer for the school buses and ranchers ran-chers who use it. Work on the project will be done this summer. The contract allows 60 working days for completion. Ninety percent of the funding for this work comes from the Federal Highway Administration with the local matching money being provided by Daggett County. |
