Land & Marine defeated Altex oil, 9 to 5, Thursday. Conoco ?o encounter E3oss Construction, Thursday First and second place teams will battle Thursday in the Vernal Women's Softball League. The first place team, Conoco, will encounter the second place team, Ross Construction at 6 p.m. Jones Paint & Glass, the other second place team, will take on the last place team. Basin Sportsman, at 7:30 p.m. Conoco has suffered only one loss as of July 19. The Conoco team was nipped by Western Company, 13 to 10, on July 2. Conoco had won 10 games in a row before the loss to Western Company and has won four contests since its first loss. Jones Paint & Glass and Ross Construction Con-struction have suffered only three setbacks. Ross Construction won six games in a row before they dropped a 27 to 12 encounter to Jones Paint & Glass on June 25 for their first loss of the season. The first place Conoco team nipped Ross Construction 17-15 and Western Company bombed Ross Construction, 12 to 1 on July 9. Conoco nipped Jones Paint & Glass, 14 to 12 on June 11. Jones Paint & Glass was nipped by Pleasonton Well, 18-17, July 9 and was edged by Heyloft, 12-11, July 16. The standings in the Vernal Women's Softball League are: Conoco, first, 14-1; Ross Construction, Jones Paint & Glass-second, 12-3; Western Company, Heyloft, fourth, 10-6; Altex Oil, Pleasonton Well, Land & Marine, sixth, 8-8; Don's Body Shop, ninth. 7-9: Superior Tire, tenth. 3-13: Hiko Bell, 11th, 2-14; and Basin Sportsman, I2tn, 0-15. Two games were played Thursday. Land & Marine thumped Altex Oil, 9 to 5 and Jones Paint & Glass toppled Don's Body Shop 21 to 13. Contests set for Monday. July 30 are: 6 p.m., Superior Tire vs. Hiko Bell, Pleasonton Well vs. Altex Oil, Land & Marine vs. Don's Body Shop, Ross Construction vs. Jones Paint & Glass; . 7:30 p.m., Hiko Bell vs Basin Sportsman, Sport-sman, Superior Tire vs. Conoco, Ross Construction vs. Don's Body Shop, Western Company vs. Heyloft; 9 p.m., Heyloft vs. Conoco, Land & Marine vs. Basin Sportsman; Jones Paint & Glass vs. Altex Oil and 10:30 p.m., Western Companv vs. Pleasonton Well.
