Show Family (Health Center director A new director has been hired for the Vernal Family Health Center. Beverly Hamilton will succeed Richard Welker, who transferred to Arizona in May. Mrs. Hamilton is a graduate of Central Michigan University and for the past eight years has worked at medical facilities. The past four years she has worked in the supervisory capacity over a 34 doctor facility in ' Carbondale, 111. "At the present time" said Mrs. Hamilton "there are no forseeable changes that would affect the patient. We will, however, have a few internal changes, which is to be expected. We will, hopefully, be increasing the staff by bringing in more physicians and specialists, along the same line as has been done in the past. It seems no matter where you go each facility has problems similar to the other. There is so much you have to learn anyway. I do have a working knowledge of the computer system here, it is the same as I used in Carbondale, so that will help some." The Hamiltons, Bev, her husband Jack D. and daughters, Amy, 8 and Sarah 2'-2 were transferred here with her husband's job. He is a Wildlife Biologist with the Bureau of Land Management. They have been in the area about one month. "We are looking forward to buying a home here," siad Mrs. Hamilton. "The children are really excited about a home so they can have a pet. We are . anticipating doing all of the things that I I . H in y r BEVERLY HAMILTON, director, direc-tor, hamily Health Center. homeowners do, like put in a lawn, raise a garden, etc. My husband enjoys hunting and fishing and the whole family enjoys camping. If he had requested a specific area he couldn't have gotten a better one," she said. We are well equipped for the Utah winters after being used to cold winters elsewhere. The summer here is hot but the humidity is low, we really appreciate ap-preciate that. Where we just came from the humidity was around 94 percent. So many things here are unique j experiences. We attended the rodeo which was the family's first exposure to anything like that. In the East there just isn't that western flare. Even the horses here are a unique experience for us," she explained. The Vernal community is very nice, usually when you move into an area it takes months to get acquainted. Here it hasn't, the people in Vernal are friendly. We have visited several churches in the area and were warmly welcomed in each. The last place we lived was a town of 50,000 and even the churches where we went were not open and friendly. It was in the south and you think about Southern Hospitality, but it was not so. Mrs. Hamilton has been active in Girl Scouting, serving as leader and cookie chairman. She is interested in jogging, tennis and cooking. She holds a teaching certificate in history, and plans to delve into the local area, ex-pecially ex-pecially Indian history. Mr. Hamilton enjoys tennis along with fishing, hunting. He is a member of the Audobon Society and other professional groups. Mrs. Hamilton is employed in the supervisory capacity part-time at the present. She is in the office mornings Monday through Friday. |
