Show Manila Clara kcbinson Phone 764-3463 Testimony honors L P. Biorns A farewell testimony meeting was held for Mr. and Mrs. L.P. Biorn Sunday evening at the LDS Chapel. Speakers were Mrs. Burl Twitchell, Paul Biorn, Mrs. Duane Lamb, Mr. and Mrs. Biorn, Bishop Deri Reed, and Albert H. Neff. Green River. I.DS Stake President. Songs were sung , one by all the grandchildren, one by Beth Twitchell, Twit-chell, and one by the congregation. Following the church services, an open house was given in the honor of the couple at their home. The Community Choir traveled to Dutch John Sunday to sing the "Messiah" at the LDS Ward Chapel at 2 p.m. The Choir includes Dutch John students who attend Manila High School and some other Dutch John residents. The choir will present the "Messiah" at Manila on December 23 at 5 p.m. Daytime temperatures in Manila were higher than usual. It was 30 degrees on December 12 and the low the previous night was 2 below. No measurable snow fell. Manila boys lost their basketball game in Mt. View Saturday. This week the Junior Varsity boys arid girls will play against the USDS at Manila on the 17th. On the 19 the girls will play at Altamont and on the 22 the boys will play at Duchesne. The bookmobile will be at the school grounds in Manila on December 21. Mrs. Beverly Miller, new town clerk, was not at work Monday due to a fall on the ice at the Manila LDS parking lot Sunday evening. The women's volleyball tournament started Saturday night. It will continue-Monday continue-Monday and Tuesday nights. Lawrence Biorn's mother, Mrs. H. Biorn, 'Mr. and Mrs. :Dan South of Evanston, Wyoming attended the farewell and open house for Mr. and Mrs. L.P. Biorn. Mr. and Mrs. Larry Biorn and children of Evanston, Wyoming, attended at-tended the open house and farewell testimonial services for his parents, Mr. and Mrs. L.P. Biorn Sunday evening. Manila Elementary School skating pond was filled Friday night. It is frozen now. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Biorn and children of San Diego, California attended the farewell services for Paul's parents, Mr. and Mrs. L.P. Biorn, and the open house afterward. Paul, who is in the Air Force, is beine transferred from San Diego to Michigan. The M & L. Homemakers will hold their annual Christmas Party at the Villa Cafe on December 20. Secret pals will reveal their names. A hamper of presents will be won. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Murphy were in Orem this past weekend to visit their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Craig Larsen. Mr. and Mrs. Harvard L. Redden of Manila, Utah has announced the engagement of their daughter, Christine, to Dandy E. Pollock of Panguitch, Utah. The bride is a graduate of the Manila High School and the Barbizon School of Modeling in Salt Lake City. She has also attended Weber State College for one quarter. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard S. Pollock of Panguitch, Utah. He is a graduate of Piute High School in Richfield, and Dixie College. He is a graduate of Utah State University where he majored in forestry. He is employed by the U.S. Forest Service, Ashley National Forest at Manila. A December 21 wedding is planned. The couple plans to make their home in Manila. |
