Show Cougars drop encounters The Union Cougars return to Roosevelt for a two game homestand after suffering road woes at Richfield, 91 to 72, Friday and at South Sevier, 89 to 63, Saturday. Union will attempt to gain its first win of this season when they host Ben Lomond, Friday at 5:45 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. The Cougars have lost six games in a row to Payson, Carbon, Car-bon, Spanish Fork, Uintah, Richfield and South Sevier. Union has a 0-6 record. The Cats will take on the Uintah Utes in a return match in Roosevelt, Friday, December 28. The Utes have a 2-4 record. Uintah has defeated Lehi and Union, but has suffered setbacks to Sky View, Box Elder, Layton and Bear River. Tracy Neilson was the high scorer for the Cougars in the game with Richfield at 23 points. Also scoring in double figures were Clay Harrison, 17; Kyle Mansfield, 11 and Tracy Dye, 10. Neilson was the top point gainer in the South Sevier game for the Cats with 15 counters. Gary Eldredge and Clay Harrison Har-rison put in ten points each. "We didn't play very well. We had better balanced scoring. Our defense let us down a bit and we didn't play basketball like I think we can," said Union coach. Brad Monks. "We lacked intensity. It was a good experience in some respects." When asked to comment on his contests con-tests with Ben Lomond and Uintah in Roosevelt. Monks remarked. "Ben Lomond Lo-mond has a good ball club. Uintah and Union need a spark to get them going and maybe a w in will get one of us going. go-ing. We are looking at one game at a time." The Cougars will open league action on the road against Granstville on January 4. Union will host Morgan on January 11, and will take on the Pioneers in Lehi on January 18. |
