Show Rio Algom Wives Toured Underground Mine Eleven wives of employees of the mining department at Rio Algom Corporation were Proctor in the Math classes in his Freshman year and did private tutoring set up through the university in his sophomore sopho-more and junior years. Keith held several part-time jobs while in the university, as well as working during the summers. Working at Aqua Tech building swimming pools one of his first jobs was building the pools at the Salt Lake Hilton. While working at Thompsons Flying Service in Salt Lake, he was sent to Chicago to pick up an airplane and fly it back to Salt Lake for a customer. He had received his private pilot's license just after graduating from high school. Presently living in Salt Lake, Keith's future plans include getting his instructor and commercial license, as well as future degrees in mathematics. mathemat-ics. One of Keith's professors noted that some of the Finest college math students in the state are graduates of Grand County High School. Keith is the son of Colleen J. Miller of Moab. given a tour of underground and surface facilities Wednesday. Wednes-day. September 22. 1976. The facility tour was given in order to make the wives aware of what the mining industry is doing today and the tyoe of work their husbands are involved in. Mines have basically been considered "off limits" to women in the past. Rio Algom is striving to remove the stigma that has been associated with mining in the past and to show the public that mining is one of the most important industries in the world and one of Utah's leading industries. The women were given a welcome by Mine Manager, M.D. Lawton; then were shown a film "The Lisbon Story." A safety indoctrination was given and the tour went underground. After touring the undergrond and returning to surface, the wives were treated to a luncheon and a tour of the surface facilities. The women who were on the first tour were: Debbie Wei-senberger, Wei-senberger, Jacquie Leavell, Sharon Dial, Linda McLaughlin, McLaugh-lin, Eva Martinez, Cindy Cowan, Marie Packard.
