Show Millard Downs Moab To Remain Unbeaten Millard's high-flying Eagles retaliated for a narrow loss to Moab last year by winning a squeaker from the Red Devils at Fillmore Friday night to remain undefeated in Region Seven play. The Eagles are thought by many to be the class of the region and like Delta have personnel to do it. This time they edged the Red Devils 19-12. Moab was very much in the ball game throughout, but a three yard, pass from Dean Stephenson to Mark Petersen late in the fourth quarter ended the Devil dreams. The same pair had earlier hooked up on a 50 yard pass-run. play to give Millard the edge. Randy Stubblefield gave Moab an early lead of 6-0 with a two yard charge behind Russ Peck, Iley Copeland, Randy Stewart and Trent Garcia. The Devils went for two on the conversion, missed, and that turned out to be enough for Millard to win. Millard's Jim Eddison sneaked in for two yards and Brent Hossman hit the PAT for a 7-6 lead and the Eagles never trailed again. The win sets the stage for Millard-Delta Millard-Delta showdown unless Moab can derail the Rabbits Friday. Loss or not, credit the Moab defense with a good ball game. The Eagles have been flying along with a forty point per game average. They were satisfied with much less Friday. |
