Show Moniecotning Pits Moah Against Delta ! It's not just homecoming for the Moab Iti Devils, it's not just another Region ' ' ! ! Seven game, it's not just a must for Moab say on the plus side of the win-loss word. So what it it? It is a rematch of the ft me championship of 1975 when the 1 Mia Rabbits took home the state diadem j J Moab had to settle for a second place 'f rophyand the knowledge that only Delta ;'i iidkeaten them in a 11-2 season, j j i if you need more than that to bring i III! in out to the Friday night 8 p.m. Munter between the two squads, you ' j a are not a football fan. Actually, you SJiijl should be there early to enjoy the viljjj pie-game ceremonies because both royalty alumni and the graduating ? i seniors will all be honored beginning at 7:30 p.m. Players will be donning the Red-White jersey for Moab for their last year. Parents will wear facsimile numbers during the game. This game is also for the alumni. Some of them will have some high hopes of avenging prior defeats at the hands of Delta so some rabid fans are in prospect. Delta is undefeated, but many believe the Rabbits can be had. Thev had their hands full with South Sevier and Richfield winning in the final seconds, but winning. Moab beat both teams, Richfield with ease. But, the Devils are 4-3 and even with five schools making the playoffs it is going to be a struggle for Moab to get one of their accustomed shots at state. Delta is lead by a genuine all-stater in Gordon Rawlinson who was a big factor in the 1975 state game as a flanker. He carries the ball now and has been responsible for at least three of Delta's victories. Moab has Don Flynn, Jay Johnson and Randy Stubblefield packing the ball to threaten the defense. They also have an all-stater in Mike Zimmerman who has been showing better ' and better each game. The game is likely to be won in the line and Moab will again have to give up some beef, but the Devils have beaten bigger teams before and nothing could get them together like this match. j Left on the Devil schedule will be Juab (amazingly improved over last year) and Manti, so a win Friday would almost assure Moab a stiot at the playoffs. It should be dandy. - |
