Statistics for the first half of 1177 show that operators drilled 112 wells in the stale compared with 70 during Hie first six months of ll7. Of the 112 wells drilled this year, 51 were oil wells, 14 were gas producers and Hie remaining 47 were dry holes. A total of b74.4o feet of hole has been drilled where per-toot costs average anyw here from $H5 to more than $100 in Utah. Oil and gas lease sales held so lar this year also show a growing interest in Utah. The lluraii of Land Management sold 3,025 acres out of 3,065 acres offered for slighlly more than 1H4.617. State lands oflered competitive lease sales for some 199,942. The Utah Stale Land Office is receiving sealed bids on another large lease sale scheduled for opening on July 26. Several leasing units are offered for oil and gas, metalliferous minerals, miner-als, oil shale, coal, potash, geolhermal. limestone, gypsum, gyp-sum, and building stone. Current Oil & dun Drilling In Utah Several significant lest well sites leceived Department of Natural Resources approval and are scheduled for drilling shortly. Anschtilz Corporation will drill the No. 1 State-492 a scheduled 6,800 foot test of the linlrada formation in Grand County, north of Cisco in the Hook Cliff's Held. It is the latest wildcat well scheduled in the vicinily by Anschutz. Walter liroadhead, Grand Junction, ' has the No. 1 Federal-Reina, projected to at least 800 feet in the Sage field about seven miles northeast of Cisco. The deep well being drilled north of Moab by Mobil Oil is at a deplh of 15,300 feet. The No. C-l McCormick-Federal is scheduled to at least 18,000 feet. In San Juan County, Husky Oil Company will drill the No. 13-30 Federal, an east offsetting location to its recently completed gas dis covery flowing 5,0(X),000 cubic feet of gas per day. The new lest is to be drilled to at least 9,900 feel. The Lisbon field area is four miles to the southeast. In Uintah County, F.xxon USA has location for the No. 1 Pine Spring Unit, a project 10,500 foot test in the Sweetwater Creek area south of Vernal. Closest production is some two and a half miles to the north at Seep Ridge field. In the Island field vicinity, Mapco Inc., is testing a possilbe producer, the No. 11-16E State. The well is perforated at a depth of 7,945 to 8,370 feet. About 18 miles northwest of Pincview field, Summit County, Coun-ty, Amoco Production is drilling a 3,500 foot test well, the No. 1 Champlin-482 in Morgan County. And, in Rich County, Amoco Production is drilling below 3,300 feet at the No. 1 Champlin-472 a scheduled schedul-ed 3,500 foot test well some 30 miles north of Pineview field. American Quasar Petroleum is drilling below 10,167 feet at the No. 20-1 Hogback Ridge, an apparent gas discovery just south and east of the south-easlern south-easlern end of Bear Lake. It flowed gas at a rate in excess of 15 million cubic feet a day recently. Other Drilling Activity Duchesne County - King Resources is beginning drilling drill-ing operations at the 24-1 Antelope Ridge, south of the town of Duchesne. The well is to be drilled to at least 5,780 feet. Emery County - T. L. Britt gauged a flow of 300,000 cubic feet of gas daily at the No. 1 Brock Bank, and is continuing tests. The wildcat, north of Castle Dale, is bottomed at 1,957 feet. Sanpete San-pete County - Hanson Oil is temporarily shut down at 13,708 feet at the deep test well, 1A-X Moroni, Moroni vicinity. It is to go to about 20,000 feet. |
