Show Young Peope Interested In Leo Club Get Their Chance All interested young people peo-ple in the Moab area will . have their chance for mem-, bership in the ' "LEO Club" Monday, Dec. 20. ' The club will give an 'opportunity 'op-portunity for anyone ages 15 through 20 to "promote service ser-vice activities among - the youth of the community which will develop the individual qualities of leadership, experience, exper-ience, and opportunity," as stated in the club handbook. The LEO Club is sponsored spon-sored by the Moab Lions Club. Slim Mabery and Rodney Rod-ney Phillips of the Lions ; Club wil be meeting with all ! interested students in Room 2 at Grand County High School at 3:40 p.m. to answer ans-wer questions and explain the details of the club. Application forms for membership mem-bership will be available also at that time Monday. Mabery said Wednesday that all persons joining the club before Jan. 17 would not have to pay the $2.50 entrance en-trance fee. That fee will be paid by the Moab Lions. '. Membership dues of $1 every six months will be re- quired by the club also, but will not be paid by . the Lions. "We encourage all high school age students to attend the Monday meeting if they , are interested in becoming leaders in their community,'' Mabery said. He and Rod Phillips will be co-sponsors for the club. The LEO Club' is an inter-' national organization which began in 1968. There are now , 1,080 LEO Clubs around the world with 25,000 total mem- . bers. f LEO Club members will be free to design their own ? projects, elect their own officers, of-ficers, and handle their own budget. LEO service projects will also be up to the club members. mem-bers. The Moab Lions say that they are quite enthusiastic about the LEO Club, and are encouraging every young person per-son . in the community to investigate in-vestigate its possibilities. About 12 young people in Moab have already signed up. The Lions have appointed a LEO Advisory Committee to recruit new members. Committee members are Slim Mabery, chairman; Joe Gelo, Rodney Phillips, and Rodney Dalton. Anyone interested in further fur-ther information about the LEO Club should contact Mabery at 259-6676.
